You have to make time every day to be creative. If you schedule it – and stick to it – it becomes a habit.
We often squander our most creative time checking email, looking at Facebook or watching TV.
Not that you cannot gain some value from those things…but they can hijack your focus when you are primed for more important things. For example:
If you’re like me, You wake up every morning with something on your mind. Maybe its an idea on how to improve a process at home or at work, an inspirational thought or suggestion for a friend. Checking social media feeds when the mind is primed for creativity saps the bandwidth needed to fully process your thoughts.
Those tweets, instagram pics, fb posts, linkedin notifications, snaps, pins, emails or any other updates are like extra cars on your mental highway creating a gridlock that slows the flow of your art coming to market.
